Rezoning request denied for subdivision

The Buford City Commission last week denied a rezoning request of 24.99 acres at Buford Highway and Hamilton Mill Road. Developer Gary Hodges sought to build 33 single family detached homes on the land near downtown.

Commissioners denied the request based on recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Board, which felt the homes would conflict with existing commercial business. Buford’s Future Land Use Map designates the area for parks and recreation conservation and commercial use.
