The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted to deny a rezoning and a related change in the future land use map to allow the development of an age-restricted residential community on the northern end of the county.

The developers had already received a variance from the county’s Zoning Advisory Board to allow 16 units per acre on the site that is just under seven acres on West Village Parkway, near the intersection of Fairview and Panola roads.

It was the multi-family component that led commissioners Blake Prince, Gary Barham and Johnny Wilson to vote for denial. June Wood and Dee Clemmons voted in favor. Bruce Holmes, in whose district the site is located, recused himself due to a potential conflict with his wife’s business interests.
