The McDonough City Council voted at its Oct. 15 regular meeting to approve a request to rezone a .35-acre lot to highway commercial with some conditions.

The site at 261 Griffin Street has already seen significant renovations and improvements by the owners who made the request, and more than one council member said the location in its finished state will be a great addition to the city. There was no opposition to the request expressed at the meeting, and a motion to approve it was passed unanimously.

A separate rezoning issue on the same meeting agenda, regarding 235 Hampton Street, was postponed until the council’s Nov. 1 meeting.
