The Locust Grove City Council voted at its April 1 regular meeting to rezone 25.5 acres along South Bethany Road, north of its intersection with Mose Brown Drive, to R-2 (single-family residential).

In a letter of intent to the city, the applicant proposed a 50-lot subdivision with a minimum lot size of 18,000 square feet and a minimum lot width of 100 feet. The entire area is within the limited development area of the Tussahaw Creek Reservoir Water Supply Watershed District, and is in a section of the city “dominated by the presence of Warren Holder Park and the Locust Grove Event Center,” according to city documents. Othe residential land in the area includes unincorporated and larger RA-zoned tracts, while some in the general area have been rezoned R-2 and R-3.

The vote to approve was unanimous.
