Fulton County Sheriff Ted Jackson has named retired Atlanta Police Department Assistant Chief Shawn Jones as the new commander of the law enforcement division.

The newly-titled Lieutenant Colonel Jones recently retired from APD after 30 years. He began the new job March 22.

“Most of the supervisors are new,” Jones said in a news release. “I’m in the process of doing an assessment of the areas to see what is working and what can be enhanced...[analyzing] how can we continue to get better, improve processes, and we will come back to evaluate again.”

The FCSO law enforcement division encompasses warrant service, special operations and investigative sections.
