Residents enjoying the outdoors at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park will now be able to make a pit stop before (or after) hitting the trails.

The National Park Service said it will reopen restrooms inside the visitors center on Saturday, June 20. Officials will encourage visitors to practice social distancing by designating separate entrance and exit lanes and placing marking on the floor where visitors can stand six feet apart while waiting in line.

NPS said visitors will be “expected to self-monitor for social distancing.” The visitors center remains closed at this time, National Park Service said.

Kennesaw Mountain as well as the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area reopened last month to the public, and NPS has waived parking fees for visitors. Horse trailer parking also reopened last week at Kennesaw Mountain.

Visitors should remember that park trails and all parking lots are open for use, but Mountain Road and the Mountain Road parking lot are still closed at this time.
