One of the food stalls at the Great Wall Supermarket in Duluth had roaches crawling throughout the kitchen area, said a Gwinnett County health inspector.

The inspector said Humble House, 2300 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, needed to control pests in its area of the food court.

The Chinese food stall failed the recent routine inspection with a 55/U. Previous scores were 80/B and 94/A.

Points were also taken off because of improper thawing and cooling of potentially hazardous foods, and because employees were not wearing gloves when prepping raw vegetables, the inspector said.

Cooked vegetables to be used in soup were cooling inside a large metal pot in the walk-in cooler. The food was discarded because the process did not allow for rapid cooling.

A large container of frozen beef was submerged in water. It was removed and placed under running water to thaw.

One employee was cutting carrots without wearing gloves, and another was using bare hands to plate raw peppers for a customer order. The vegetables were discarded.

A plate of food for a to-go order was thrown out because the chicken was not at a safe temperature, the inspector said.

Points were also taken off because a chlorine bucket was on the prep counter while employees were cutting carrots. It was removed.

Humble House will be re-inspected.

In other news, two recently featured Forsyth County restaurants pulled up their health scores during follow-up inspections. La Cazuela @ Johns Creek, 4090 Johns Creek Parkway, Suwanee, scored 86/B, and Sho Asian Cuisine, 4335 Bethelview Road, Cumming, scored 71/C.
