The Fayette County school system’s efforts to verify the residency of all enrolled students is nearing completion, according to information presented at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.
Audrey Toney, director of student services, reported that as of this week, 17,416 students from 10,454 households have submitted the required documents to prove they live in Fayette County. That leaves 2,653 students from 1,658 remaining households still unconfirmed.
Toney said the county is using emails, phone calls, social worker home visits and other communication within the schools to contact parents. She said that aside from one or two withdrawals, the checks so far have not revealed residency violations.
