Several people are trying to help a dog in Forsyth County who can’t walk normally after he was shot with a pellet gun, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Two Tailz Rescue of Roswell is leading the effort to raise $3,000 to pay for a neurologist for Ryker, who was found in July, the station reported.
There’s also a $500 reward for information that would help the Forsyth sheriff’s office find whoever shot Ryker.
Chris Davenport first saw the dog as he was preparing to go to work.
“He was just leaving a trail of blood from his feet trailing on the concrete,” Davenport said. “I think he knew I was there to help and not harm.”
Davenport took Ryker to a veterinarian, where they learned the nature of the injury, Channel 2 reported.
“(The pellet) obviously had been there (on his spine) for a while because there was no entry wound,” he said.
The dog now gets around by dragging his rear legs. Someone donated a doggie wheelchair, but that’s not the ultimate goal.
A specialist could determine if surgery can remove the pellet and let Ryker walk normally again.
“If we could get him to a place where he could run like a real dog without wheels and dragging,” said Carolyn O’Brien of Two Tailz Rescue, “that’s the goal.”
