The two men who were shot by a security guard while allegedly attempting to rob a southeast Atlanta business have been identified.

One man who was pronounced dead at the scene has been identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as Rodrick D. Anderson, 41. Freeman Durham, 48, was identified by police as the man taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition from his injuries.

Freeman has charges filed against him including criminal damage to property in the second degree, entering an automobile and theft by receiving stolen property, according to Atlanta police.

The shooting happened just before midnight Sunday near Forrest Park Road and South River Industrial Boulevard.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the preliminary investigation determined that two men were breaking into shipping containers at a company in the 1000 block of South River Industrial Boulevard “when they were confronted by a security officer and shots were fired.”

Channel 2 Action News reported that Anderson was found inside a pickup truck that police believed was stolen, and that Durham ran from the truck and collapsed in a nearby neighborhood.
