A 16-year-old driving home from soccer practice Friday afternoon died when another driver plowed into him.

The teen, Thomas Allen Goodson Jr., had recently transferred to Armuchee High School, north of Rome, the Rome News-Tribune reported. Goodson died at the scene after his Toyota Camry was hit by a pickup truck driven by 65-year-old Thomas Doss, police said.

Doss, of Armuchee, was attempting to move into the turning lane of U.S. 27 but never stopped and crashed into the Camry, carrying it about 60 feet, according to the report. No charges had been filed late Friday.
