A Waffle House in DeKalb County nearly failed a health inspection, according to a recent report.

The Chamblee location scored a 70 on a health inspection on Monday. The failing score is 69.

Officials noted improper hygiene practices and food contamination at the Waffle House on Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

Food debris was found on dishes stored as clean and on cabinet shelves, according to the report.

An official also noted  that an employee did not cook chicken at the minimum required temperature.

A follow-up inspection date was scheduled for May 28, 2016, according to the report.

In a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Waffle House communications department issued an apology to customers.

"Our corporate training department and senior management are involved to make sure our food safety protocols are in place in this restaurant and any maintenance issue are being addressed immediately," a spokeswoman wrote.
