A 33-year-old police officer was arrested after he was caught trying to set up a sexual encounter with a juvenile 300 miles away, police say.

Fort Valley police Officer Brett Crowe was charged with enticing a juvenile and violating his oath of office by the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office, Maj. Lawrence Spurgeon told The Macon Telegraph.

Crowe, who was hired as an officer in October, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in an undercover operation, according to the report. He has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

Crowe was allegedly trying to arrange an encounter with a juvenile in Lumpkin County, in northeast Georgia. Instead, he was communicating with law enforcement.
