Starting Monday, the Georgia Department of Transportation will begin repairs at Peachtree City’s busiest intersection.

A recent storm-related pipe failure caused the ground under the right-turn lane from northbound Ga. Hwy. 74 onto eastbound Ga. Hwy. 54 to collapse, resulting in the lane’s closure last week. Additional lanes near the work zone may also be closed temporarily while crews are there, and signs and barrels will be used to warn motorists to be careful and slow down in the area. GDOT said the repair work “is expected to be completed by the end of July,” which could mean even worse traffic conditions at what is already a highly congested intersection.

Real-time information about the project and traffic status will be available at 511ga.org or on the 511 Georgia app.
