A repairman was shot Thursday during a robbery attempt at William M. Boyd Elementary School in northwest Atlanta, police said.

The 62-year-old man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot in his left leg, police said. Authorities said his injuries are non-life threatening.

According to police the man was making repairs at the school, at 1896 Johnson Road, when two people walked up to him. One of the men pulled out a pistol and demanded the man's keys and wallet, police said.

Before the man could say anything, he was shot in the lower part of his left leg, police said. The two men then ran away.

Police did not give a complete description of the two men. Authorities also have not identified the man who was shot.

Boyd Elementary is one of the year-round schools in Atlanta. Some classes were held in the morning, but none were in session at the time of the incident, Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Keith Bromery said.
