Decatur’s school board recently approved a revision to the Renfroe Middle School master plan, allowing for fewer modular units, or trailers, than originally planned. Originally, 15 modulars were to be added this summer and 15 more in 2016. The revised plan calls for 16 modular classrooms and 14 permanent classrooms to be included in Phase 1 of construction. The total cost is $5.5 million, or $2.5 million more than the original cost. Construction will start this summer with the permanent work expected to take six months.
