The city of Marietta is accepting applications for the 14th annual Scarecrow on the Square contest.

Registration forms are available on the city's website, and must be completed and submitted no later than Sept. 27. The cost to enter the contest is $25, but schools are able to submit their registration forms for free.

The contest allows schools, community organizations or businesses to show off their personality by decorating a scarecrow. Organizers encourage participants to incorporate a “theme and name that showcases the business or group's personality or celebrates Marietta's history with a historic figure,” according to the city.
