Cobb County residents can now drop off batteries for recycling at any one of the county's 17 library branches.

Residents should put the batteries in a plastic bag or tape the ends and drop them into one of the small white recycling bins inside the library.

Batteries that can be recycled include: cell phone batteries, power tool batteries, laptop batteries, digital camera batteries, video camera batteries and any type of Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, & Li-Ion rechargeable batteries.

Household batteries (alkaline or lithium primary batteries) are also accepted as well as dry sealed cell and power-pack batteries. No car batteries will be accepted, said Dinah Bonesteel, an administrative coordinator at the county's central library.

The initiative is in conjunction with Keep Cobb Beautiful. For information call (770) 528-2342 or (770) 528-1135. Or visit the KCB web page at http://kcb.cobbcountyga.gov/ or the library web page at http://www.cobbcat.org/.
