The 60-year-old Lawrence Street Recreation Center in Marietta will reopen after a $1.1 million renovation.

Registration will start for Marietta Police Athletic League programs at the center after a ribbon cutting 4 p.m. Tuesday at 510 Lawrence St.

The rehab, funded by a 2009 city parks bond, includes a new game room, restrooms, lockers and multi-purpose space. An outside swimming pool was replaced with a playground. Youth activities will start Jan. 6 for children 6-18.
