An I-75 southbound entrance will close overnight into Thursday and overnight into Sunday.

Crews building the Northwest Corridor express lane project will close the South Marietta Parkway southbound ramp onto I-75 as they work, the Georgia Department of Transportation said in a release Wednesday.

Motorists will be rerouted onto Franklin Gateway where they can take a left turn onto Delk Road and then a right onto the interstate heading south.

The area will be affected from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday and the same time frame Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Your best bet is to avoid the area, traffic officials advise.

The project interrupted I-285 traffic in December.

The express lanes are expected to be open to traffic early 2018. This is one of the many construction projects in the booming Cumberland area.
