Smyrna councilman Wade Lnenicka plans a rally noon Saturday to support using a closed hospital in Smyrna as a medical facility for veterans. The gathering will be in front of the former Emory-Adventist Hospital, 3949 South Cobb Drive.

Congress passed a bill in July to give veterans better access to medical care, including $6.4 million to relocate a veterans medical clinic in Austell to a larger facility tentatively set for North Cobb.

After the Smyrna hospital closed in October, it became obvious to him that the site was well suited to be the place for Cobb veterans, Lnenicka said.
