Wednesday began dry, but rain moved in later in the day.
Light, patchy rain was expected to continue in the metro Atlanta area during the evening commute, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. Heavier showers are falling north of the area.
“Although the severe threat with the system remains low, an isolated storm could become strong with the main threat being gusty winds,” the National Weather Service said early Wednesday in a statement.
Highs Wednesday were in the mid-70s, with lows Wednesday night dipping into the upper 40s.
Thursday and Friday should be sunny, but there’s another chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday, Channel 2 said.
Highs will reach 70 Thursday and the mid-70s Friday, with lows in the upper 40s.
Weekend highs will be in the upper 60s, with lows in the mid-50s.
The chance of weekend rain is 60 percent Saturday and 70 percent Sunday, Burns said.
