Metro motorists faced a rainy commute for Monday morning’s return to work from the long holiday weekend.
Light rain began moving into the area around 4 a.m. At 6:30, the heaviest of the rain was moving across Cherokee County, with showers extended back into Alabama.
Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said the rain should continue off and on for much of the week.
Minton said the chance of rain is 30 percent through Thursday, when the rain chance increases to 50 percent. The risk of rain is 70 percent Friday, according to Minton.
Temperatures this week will be warmer than normal, with highs climbing to around 70 degrees by Thursday and Friday, Minton said.
Lows will range from the upper 40s early Tuesday to low 60s Friday morning.
Atlanta’s normal high for the first week of December is 58, the normal low 39.
