Repairs to a portion of Sanders Road in Cumming washed out by a 2013 dam failure are running behind due to December’s rains and supply problems.
Planning and Zoning Director Scott Morgan said they’d hoped to have the stretch between Buford Dam and Lake Mary Alice Park roads open by the end of December, but rain’s raised the level of Lake Lanier too high for the work to be done — and manufacture of a needed, expanded culvert’s been delayed as well.
Morgan said with the lake projected to fall and the culvert set to arrive later this month, they’ve given Martin Contracting until the end of February to finish.
The city and Forsyth County are splitting the cost of the $434,000 project.
