After a partly to mostly sunny morning, there’s a good chance of rain by the end of the day Saturday, and that rain will likely persist through the first part of next week.

Atlanta’s official weather reporting station at Hartsfield-Jackson International recorded a brief shower before daybreak Saturday, but skies had become partly sunny by 9 a.m.

Those sunny skies won’t last, though, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Nitz said the chance of rain later Saturday is 40 percent, increasing to 70 percent on Easter Sunday.

Weekend highs will be a degree or two on either side of 70, with overnight lows in the 50s.

There’s a 60 percent chance of rain on Monday, and that rain will be followed by another big drop in temperatures, according to Nitz.

Highs will be in the low 70s Monday, but only in the upper 50s Tuesday and Wednesday, and morning lows will dip into the 30s by mid-week.
