Enjoy Thursday’s sunshine and temperatures in the 80s because neither will last into the weekend.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said clouds will be on the increase Friday afternoon, with a 40 percent chance of showers late in the day.

“Saturday will be the day that we get a lot of rain,” Minton said, adding that the rain could be accompanied by thunderstorms.

The weekend won’t be a total washout, though, as decreasing clouds are forecast for Mother’s Day on Sunday, Minton said.

Afternoon highs will be in the low 80s Thursday and Friday, cooling to the mid to upper 70s over the weekend.

Overnight lows will drop from the low 60s Thursday and Friday nights to the upper 40s on Sunday night.
