Rabies alert issued for McDonough neighborhood

June 14, 2016

The Henry County Animal Care and Control Department issued a 45-day rabies alert for McDonough on Monday.

The alert is active for the half-mile area surrounding the Kensington Point subdivision off Simpson Mill Road.

Animal Control responded to a call that a raccoon was killed by three dogs Thursday. The remains of the raccoon were taken to the Georgia Public Health Laboratory, where it tested positive for rabies, a report said. The dogs were placed under a 45-day quarantine.

Animal Control encourages residents living in the area to make sure their pets have a current rabies vaccination.
