Publix and Waffle House will be coming to Smyrna this year.

Their commercial building permits were issued by the Smyrna City Council Monday.

The Publix will be a part of the new Jonquil Village development on 3.37 acres at 2955 Atlanta Road.

Benning Construction Co. will build the 45,600-square-foot Publix for almost $4.2 million that is owned by Halpern Enterprises of Atlanta.

The estimated completion date is late December.

The Waffle House will be built on 1.7 acres at 2316 South Cobb Drive for $261,153.
