A task force working to overhaul DeKalb County Animal Services will hold several public hearings in the next month, to get more citizen input.

The task force aims to increase adoptions, encourage more responsible pet ownership and reduce euthanasia rates at the county animal shelter.

The first public meeting will be held for northern DeKalb residents from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 at Doraville City Hall on Park Avenue.

A session for south DeKalb residents will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Lou Walker Senior Center on Panola Road.

A final meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Decatur Library on Sycamore Street, for residents in central DeKalb.
