The Henry County Board of Commissioners considered several possible changes to the public comment policy at commission meetings, but nothing was changed.

The board ultimately voted at its Oct. 15 regular meeting to keep the current guidelines in place. Citizens who sign up before a meeting will be allotted five minutes during public comment time to speak about any county issue, with no limit on the number of speakers who can appear at any single meeting. Among the discussed changes were reducing a speaker’s time to three minutes, reducing the overall public comment time to 30 minutes, and limiting comments to agenda items at that meeting. None of those changes were made.

Public comment time will likely remain at the end of each meeting, although the commissioners can amend the agenda to change that at any time.
