The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its May 14 regular meeting to deny a variance request for a seven-acre site at 540 Chambers Road.

The applicant wanted a reduction in the driveway requirements for a proposed campground at the site, which is north of Hwy. 81 and south of Mt. Carmel Road. The minimum driveway width requirement is 28 feet, which is intended to allow ample passing space for recreational vehicles, and county staff said reducing it to the requested 20 feet would prevent two-way traffic and cause vehicle stacking that would hinder neighborhood traffic.

The vote to deny was 5-0.
