Pickleball proponents in Peachtree City are a bit pouty after not being promised more places to play. About two dozen colorfully clad members of the PTC-Fayette Pickleball Club attended the Oct. 18 City Council meeting hoping to encourage construction of more dedicated courts for what has become a popular pastime across the country.

The city currently has 12 pickleball courts incorporated into indoor and outdoor tennis and/or basketball courts. Building six dedicated pickleball courts was estimated at $60,000, but City Manager Jon Rorie said amenities such as lighting and parking would increase costs.

Rorie said he didn’t foresee building additional pickleball courts for awhile, but noted that more tennis courts would be restriped to accommodate pickleball when they are resurfaced.
