Dozens of quilts paying tribute to music legend Prince will soon adorn the Mable House Arts Center in Cobb County.
The Prince Cherrywood Challenge Tribute Tour exhibit will make a week-long stop in Mableton where Prince fans can explore 75 quilts honoring the artist, including the first-place quilt designed by East Cobb Quilters Guild member Devon Pfeif.
The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, runs July 5-11, with an opening reception set for 5-8 p.m. Friday. A free live concert honoring Prince starts at 7 p.m. at the Mable House Amphitheater and a screening of “Purple Rain” begins at 8:30 p.m.

Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics runs the annual challenge, which requires artists to create unique designs centered around a theme. They can only use fabrics selected by the company, and each theme has to measure 20 square inches. The latest competition called on artists to create designs honoring Prince using shades of purple.
Out of 388 entries submitted, 75 were chosen for the exhibit. Two additional East Cobb Quilters Guild members, Gail Oliver and Ben Hollingsworth, have quilts on display in the exhibit.
The Mable House Arts Center is at 5239 Floyd Road SW in Mableton. For more information, visit the Mable House Arts Center website.
