Former Roswell City Council member Betty Price appears to have won the special election to represent Georgia House District 48, which largely encompasses Roswell.

Price defeated fellow Republican Dave McCleary and Democrat James W. Johnson in July 14 voting, capturing a little more than 51 percent of the vote. The election drew 2,653 people to the polls.

When sworn in, Price will replace former representative Harry Geisinger, who died earlier this year. Price, who is married to U.S. Rep. Tom Price, had served for five years on the Roswell council.
