Brian Preston announced Tuesday that he is resigning from the Henry County Board of Commissioners effective at the end of July, five months before his term ends.

He has served as a commissioner since early 2012 after almost eight years on the Board of Education. He informed the public that he is moving to Tennessee, where the rest of his family already resides, in large part because of the educational requirements of his special-needs child. He chose not to run for re-election this year and said he stayed in office until the election process could begin and the county’s budget is completed.
