Candidates interested in running for Powder Springs mayor or two at-large City Council posts may qualify for the Nov. 5 general election in mid-August.

Hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. Aug. 21, 22 and 23 in the second floor conference room, Powder Springs City Hall, 4484 Marietta St., Powder Springs.

The qualifying fee for mayor is $540 and for each of the two at-large council members is $360 and must be payable by cash, check or money order to the City of Powder Springs.

All serving their first four-year terms, the mayor is Al Thurman, the Post 1 Councilman is Patrick Bordelon and the Post 2 Councilwoman is Patricia Wisdom.

Only city residents, who are registered to vote with the State of Georgia, are eligible to vote in city elections.
