Powder Springs will renew an annual agreement for advanced fingerprinting techniques, buy a Cobb Chamber ad and use some of the city’s stormwater fees for information technology.

These expenditures were approved by the Powder Springs City Council on April 20 by a 5-0 vote.

They include:

  • $44,000 from stormwater fees through the fund balance for the Information Technology Perpetual Fund Budget to complete multi-year technology improvements, specifically Sharepoint ($18,000); phone network upfront ($6,000) and network upgrades ($20,000).
  • $6,000 for an ad in the Cobb Chamber's annual economic development guidebook and visitor & newcomer guide.
  • $810 to renew an annual agreement with DataWorks Plus for software service support for rapid identification devices (RAPID-ID). Used daily by the city's Police Department, this system provides fast, accurate solutions, using advanced fingerprinting techniques for positive identification. DataWorks Plus provides law enforcement and criminal justice technology for law enforcement agencies by developing and building software and hardware for products to improve the productivity, efficiency and the safety of officers and other agency staff, including RAPID-ID.
