Powder Springs officials hope their city is chosen for the new HGTV series titled “Home Town Takeover.”

The Powder Springs City Council voted 5-0 recently to enter the contest.

Ben and Erin Napier, the hosts of “Home Town” for HGTV, will restore an entire town.

Already Powder Springs is well on its way with a new downtown park scheduled to open this spring.

Past renovations have included the Historic Bodiford House for the city’s museum, a new police station and installation of the Linear Park along the Silver Comet Trail with playgrounds, a covered fitness area and a covered basketball arena.
