Powder Springs will hold “a Demolition Commencement Ribbon Cutting Ceremony” at 11 a.m. April 17 at the city’s Downtown Development Project Amenity site at 4485 North Town Square.

For $95,471, Southern Environmental Services, Inc. will fence and destroy the former commercial structure.

After the building’s demolition, the site will be cleared in preparation for the design implementation and construction of the $4.2 million downtown park.

The new park will feature a bicycle trail head with connectivity to the Silver Comet Trail and the city’s Lucille and Wild Horse trails, an interactive water feature, a performance space, outdoor ping pong tables, outdoor cafe tables and chairs and an earthen sitting berm.
