Children may receive free lunches this week in Powder Springs, with donations and volunteers welcome.

Donations will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily through Friday.

Lunch items needed include bread, sandwich meat (turkey preferred), sliced cheese, chips, bottled water, juice boxes/pouches, fruits (apples, bananas, oranges), Lunchables, snacks, napkins, brown paper bags and Ziplock bags.

The meals will be given away 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every day through Friday at Tapp Middle School, 3900 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs and at the First United Methodist Church of Powder Springs, 4329 Marietta St., Powder Springs.

Organizers are the Powder Springs Community Task Force, Tapp Middle School and Powder Springs First United Methodist Church.

Last week 630 lunches were distributed at both locations by these organizers.
