The Powder Springs City Council voted Monday to set increased fees for adding a recycling service by Waste Industries.

Even if they choose not to use the recycling service, residents still need to pay the increased rates.

Opt-out is offered for owners of unoccupied properties by city application.

City residents will pay $20 each month, while the fee for those outside the city will increase from $18.50 to $22.

Senior citizens will be charged $10 monthly.

The 65-gallon recycling carts will be delivered by Dec. 6 with recycling to start Dec. 10.
