Woodstock officials have set a date to temporarily close a popular trail segment.

The portion of the Noonday Creek Trail near Reeves Street in downtown Woodstock will be shut down on Monday due to an adjacent construction project that the developer said poses a safety risk. Trail users will he diverted onto sidewalks on both Maple and Reeves streets during the closure, which the city said will last about six months.

The city is asking for caution on the detour because parts of the two streets have sidewalks that are narrower than the existing trail. The paved multi-use trail extends 1.5 miles from downtown Woodstock to Ga. 92.
