UPDATE: Fuzzy's Taco Shop was reinspected Thursday and received a perfect 100.

ORIGINAL STORY, PUBLISHED OCT. 27: A popular taco shop at Gwinnett's Shoppes at Webb Gin retail center failed its recent health inspection, with officials reporting "several critical violations."

Fuzzy's Taco Shop, located at 1350 Scenic Highway in Snellville, got a 54/U on the Wednesday afternoon inspection.

According to the inspection report, one employee was seen placing "raw shrimp on grill and then removed one glove and put on a new one without washing hands" and others were preparing food without hair restraints or beard guards.

"Multiple food contact surfaces" — including a lemon slicer, dishware, various utensils and a can opener —  had food debris on them, as did oven doors, refrigerators, prep coolers and shelves, officials said.

Other reported violations included "cut lemons and limes on display without proper protection," feta cheese and rice kept longer than seven days and raw beef and chicken stored above fish and shrimp.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Wednesday's failing evaluation.

Reached early Thursday afternoon, Fuzzy's manager Quincey Nuckolls he expects the restaurant to score highly.

"It's absolutely being taken care of immediately," he said, "and most of this stuff was being addressed at the time of the inspection."
