Margaret Harris, who spent 21 years as a City Schools Decatur nutrition worker, died Tuesday morning. She had been at work Monday and suffered a stroke the next day.

Harris had been honored just last week in a CSD retirement ceremony, with her last day scheduled for May 29. A longtime Adams Street resident Harris, 65, worked the last two years at Winnona Park Elementary (where her great granddaughter attends), though she spent most of her CSD career in the Decatur High cafeteria.

Harris’ funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at Raleigh Rucker Funeral Home, 2199 Candler Road, Decatur. Allison Goodman, CSD Director of School Nutrition, said that for anyone wanting to honor Harris, there’s a repast following the funeral. It was originally to be in the Winnona Park cafeteria, but has moved to the Refroe Middle School cafeteria, 220 W. College Ave.
