Ponce de Leon Avenue has reopened to traffic, several hours after a tree fell across all four lanes of the road.

The huge tree came crashing down near Clifton Road before 5 a.m. No injuries were reported.

The major route between Decatur and Atlanta was closed in both directions until nearly 10 a.m. while crews cut up and removed the tree.

The tree was one of dozens to topple across metro Atlanta this month as heavy rains have left the ground soggy.
