Brookhaven police arrested three people in connection with a string of car break-ins after pulling over an Uber ride. One had been arrested and released from jail about a month ago, according to DeKalb County jail records.

Police first received a 911 call last Tuesday, Jan. 28, from a Brookhaven Heights resident who said he saw three people tugging on the handles of cars in his driveway, Brookhaven police said in a statement.

Officers then set up a perimeter in the area, which is located off North Druid Hills Road south of Peachtree Road. Police spotted an Uber ride-share vehicle leaving the neighborhood with three male passengers, prompting officers to pull over the car.

Police said the three passengers matched the description given by the 911 caller, so they were arrested. They were each charged with several counts of entering auto, after investigators found a total of five victims.

Only one of the suspects, 17-year-old Julio Rodriguez-Mora, was identified, since the other two are minors, police said. Rodriguez-Mora was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and loitering or prowling.

County jail records show he was arrested on Jan. 5 on a felony charge of theft by taking and driving without a license. He was released on bond two days later.
