Police are investigating a Cumming smoke shop robbery caught on video showing a would-be hostage situation.

A man entered Puff n Stuff at 410 Atlanta Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and began looking around the store, Cumming Police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi said.

Shortly thereafter, store video footage showed a second man enter the store, grab the first man and put a gun to his head. Threatening to shoot the first customer, the gunman demanded money from the clerk, police said.

But after the clerk gave the gunman money and the gunman fled, the customer left shortly afterward, without talking to the clerk or waiting for police.

Cumming police are asking anyone with information on the robbery or the whereabouts of the two men to call 770-781-2000 or email investigators at police@cummingpd.net.
