Clayton County police are seeking the public's help in catching a man suspected of raping a young girl last week.

On Thursday, the girl was walking through the neighborhood of Rose Commons Drive near Lovejoy when she was attacked and taken into a nearby wooded area by an armed man, Clayton County police Lt. Chris Windley said.

She was sexually assaulted, and the victim told police the man ran into a nearby neighborhood.

Police are describing the suspect as a dark-skinned black man standing between 6 feet and 6-feet-1 with an athletic build and in his mid- to late 20s with a close haircut, high puffy cheek bones, short eye lashes and a tattoo on his left forearm.

Investigators believe he may be left-handed.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to contact Detective Joanne Southerland at 770-477-3655 or 678-229-8008, or email her at joanne.southerland@co.clayton.ga.us.
