Police are searching for a man who robbed a Cobb County dollar store.

The robbery occurred at the Family Dollar on Veteran's Memorial Highway in Mableton on Saturday afternoon. Cobb County Police released the information on Tuesday.

The suspect walked up to the female cashier and presented money as if he were going to pay for an item, police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

As the cashier opened the register, the suspect ordered her to get away from the drawer. He then reached across the counter and grabbed a handful of cash, Pierce said.

The robber then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. He was last seen running toward Old Bankhead Highway.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 6-foot-3 and a goatee. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark blue shirt and a white baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
