Police have released a video of an attempted armed robbery at a Marietta grocery store in which a store clerk was shot.
The video, obtained by Channel 2 Action News, shows two men entering Gantt’s Food Store on Franklin Road late Wednesday night. One of the men pulls out a silver-colored handgun. The video shows the store employee turn and move toward the door. The gunman later fired a single shot at the clerk, wounding him in his right arm. The employee was transported to Kennestone Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
After shooting the employee, one of the robbers tried to open both cash registers behind the sales counter. After failing to open the registers, the men fled the store.
Marietta police are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to contact Detective Shane Merritt at 770-794-5324.
"This suspect obviously does not have a high regard for life since he took a shot at the clerk so we're really concerned about capturing him and keeping the public around here safe," Officer David Baldwin, Marietta police spokesman, told Channel 2.
